         Exploring the Elements of Design through Photography

                                           Composition

        This drawing shows composition by placing the computer, keyboard, and mouse clearly within the frame. The objects are arranged so the viewer’s eye is guided toward the center of the image. The layout feels organized and intentional.

Balance


This image demonstrates balance through the even placement of objects across the space. The visual weight on each side of the drawing feels equal, even if it is not perfectly symmetrical. This creates a stable and comfortable composition.
Contrast

Contrast is shown through the use of light and dark shading. The darker areas make the objects stand out against the lighter background. This helps separate the subject from its surroundings.
Emphasis

The computer screen is emphasized by being larger and placed near the center of the drawing. It immediately catches the viewer’s attention before other details. The surrounding objects support the main focal point.
Proportion

This drawing shows correct proportion between the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The screen is larger than the keyboard, and the mouse is smaller, matching real-life size relationships. This makes the drawing look realistic.


Pattern

Pattern is created by the repeated shapes of the keyboard keys. Each key is similar in size and shape, forming a consistent visual design. This repetition adds structure to the drawing.


Rhythm

Rhythm is shown through the repeated placement of computers across the room. The spacing between each setup creates a visual flow from one to the next. The viewer’s eye naturally moves across the image.


Unity

Unity is achieved because all objects belong to the same environment and share similar shapes and styles. The computers, desks, and layout work together as one cohesive scene. Nothing feels out of place.





Variety

Variety is shown through the different objects in the room, such as monitors, keyboards, signs, and tools. Even though they are different, they still work together visually. This keeps the drawing interesting without feeling chaotic.

           My main challenge in painting with the                                   "point, line, and plane" design approach is achieving balance and rhythm. Initially, I was easily drawn into figurative thinking, which resulted in lines and shapes appearing cluttered or monotonous. Later, I reflected that composition isn't just a technique; it's also a way of thinking, requiring attention to visual rhythm and spatial relationships. By observing excellent works and practicing repeatedly, I learned to find contrast and harmony in composition, giving the image a more designed feel.
